Granlibakken Hosts the Mac Kid Family in Tahoe City

for Family Fun Time

My family arrived in Tahoe City on brisk November afternoon.  After our 2 hour drive from our house, we were starving for lunch and ready to get out of the car.  Cruising down Tahoe City's main road we found many options for meals.  What first caught my eye was a cute shopping area with a kids' consignment store and a bath oils and soaps store.

After a relaxing and tasty lunch, with still an hour before we could check into our resort, we found ourselves as the Commons Beach Park.

Being that it is Fall, the beach was mostly empty and the water was low, but my kids loved tossing pebbles into the clear, blue lake and enjoying the peace.

Of course, that was not enough to burn their energy, luckily there is also a park on the beach.

After a day climbing around we headed to our resort, Granlibakken Tahoe

This facility offered Spa Services, a Tree Top Adventure Park and an area to Ski, Snowboard and play in the snow, once it arrives!

While I didn't take the time to take advantage of the Spa, this would totally be on my TO DO list, next visit!

Our accommodations were the highlight of our trip!  The large community style cabin includes many self contained hotel rooms, with your own bathroom, sleeping accommodations, and TV.  The cabin then has a community and industrial sized kitchen, common room, dining area, multimedia center with a TV and projector, and porch.

I am already planning how I can set-up a family reunion here!  I love the common rooms, the kitchen, the fact that there are so many things for families to do, including so many hiking trails.

After relaxing for a bit in our hotel room, we headed back into town, which was a quick 5 minute drive down to the shore lined road.

Returning to our cabin, fed and relaxed, my kids were not quiet ready for sleep, so we took advantage of the common room (being that it was off season, no one was sharing our cabin with us, so we had the fire place and games to ourselves!).

After a fierce game of "Life" we were able to tuck the kids into their cozy bed, and they drifted off quickly.

Proved with your accommodation is a full breakfast spread with many delicious food items. My kids were most excited about the various types of muffins and the seemingly endless cups  of hot chocolate.

My husband loved the delicious eggs and went back for seconds and thirds.

I loved the fresh fruit!

There was SO much to do at Granlibakken, but we only came for the night.  The Tahoe Tree Top Adventure is available for kids 5 and up, so my almost 7 year old and her almost 40 year old dad, would have loved to take the 3 hour "ropes" adventure in the tree top, but it seemed an adventure that she would appreciate on a slightly warmer day!

On the way back to Yolo County, Truckee is on the route.  We stopped for a LOT of fun at the Truckee KidZone Museum.   Similar to the ArtBeast, found here in Sacramento, this place included a lot of activities for kids in the 6 and under bracket.  Art, imaginative play, outdoor play and blocks were some of the things that were offered.

Overall, I always look forward to a great trip up the mountains.  This was my first visit to Tahoe City, courtesy of Granlibakken who provided our room and breakfast, in exchange for my review.  All the opinions expressed above are my own and were not influenced in any way.
