2012-13 Broadway Sacramento Season

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical
November 5 – 10, 2013
This outrageously fun show tells the uplifting story of a trio of friends, on a road trip of a lifetime, who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed. An international hit with over 500 dazzling, Tony Award-winning costumes, featuring a hit parade of dance-floor favorites including “It's Raining Men,” “Finally” and “I Will Survive.” The Hollywood Reporter calls the show “funny and fabulous! Joyous entertainment with eye-popping visuals and unexpected heart!”

Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story
December 27, 2013 – January 2, 2014
In just three years, Buddy Holly set the music world on fire and forever changed the face and sound of rock and roll. Buddy– The Buddy Holly Story explodes onto the stage in this jukebox musical fully loaded with classics like “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” “That’ll Be the Day,” “Well All Right,” “Not Fade Away,” and so many more. It charts his meteoric climb, legendary adventures and tragic fall on that fateful day the music died, with an encore that will have you on your feet and dancing in the aisles.

Flashdance – The Musical
February 4 – 9, 2014
Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the hit 1983 film, the pop culture phenomenon of Flashdance is now live on stage. With electrifying dance at its core, it’s the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. Featuring a score that includes the biggest hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award-winning title song “Flashdance – What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria,” “Manhunt,” and “I Love Rock & Roll.” In addition to these hits, 16 brand new songs have been written for the musical.

Blue Man Group
March 11 – 16, 2014
Experience the Phenomenon. Blue Man Group consistently thrills audiences with its high-octane theatrical experience. Escape the ordinary and surround yourself in an explosion of comedy, music, and technology. Although it is impossible to describe, audiences agree that Blue Man Group is an intensely exciting and wildly outrageous show that leaves the entire audience in a blissful, euphoric state. With no spoken language, it is perfect for people of all ages, languages, and cultures. Blue Man Group is now on the road for its first U.S. theatrical tour. If you’ve never seen Blue Man Group, it’s a must-see. If you’re already a fan, don’t miss it.

Sister Act
April 8 – 13, 2014
Broadway's feel-amazing musical comedy smash. Featuring original music by 8-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors), Sister Act is the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look—a convent. Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship. The New York Post calls it "ridiculously fun” and audiences are jumping to their feet in total agreement!

Wicked
May 28 – June 15, 2014
Back by “Popular” demand. Variety calls Wicked "a cultural phenomenon,” and when it last played Sacramento, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, Wicked is “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times). Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete, and completely satisfying, new musical in a long time" (USA Today).
