Want to learn more about composting?

offered by the City of Davis

April 10, 2014

Food scraps can make up to 25% of your trash! Composting your food scraps can be surprisingly simple, pest free and only takes 5 minutes of your time each week.

The City of Davis is offering two free composting classes at 6:00 p.m. on April 2 and 14 at the Veteran’s Memorial Center Game Room, 203 E 14th St.

In addition to backyard composting and worm composting, this class will place a particular emphasis on simple, pest-free methods of composting food scraps. After attending the class, Davis residents can sign up to receive a starter set of composting worms for $5 and residents in single-family homes can receive a backyard compost bin for $10.

We will be giving out 5 free food scrap collection pails at each class! Pails will be distributed at the end of the class to five lucky winners chosen at random from the class attendees.  To increase your chances of winning, register for the class ahead of time!  Your name will be entered in the drawing when you register, then again when you attend the class.  You must be present to win.

To register for the class, RSVP to this email,  RSVP on Facebook or call the Public Works Department at 757-5686, or email PWWeb@CityofDavis.org.
