April 10, 2014

Empower. Inspire. Enable. Run Like A Mother® Isn’t Just a Race, It’s Our Way of Life.

RIDGEFIELD, Conn., March 4, 2014 – National organization Run Like A Mother® announces the launch of its 2014 program. A celebration of women, Run Like A Mother was founded in 2008 by Ridgefield, Conn., resident and certified personal trainer, coach and author Megan Searfoss. Since its start, Run Like A Mother has encouraged more than 20,000 women in all stages of motherhood (pre, new and veteran) across the country to make running a part of their life.

The Run Like A Mother program includes a women’s 5K race to take place on Mother’s Day weekend in eight markets – Ridgefield, Conn.; Portland, Ore.; Davis, Calif.; Raleigh, N.C.; Seattle, Wash.; Milwaukee, Wis., Frisco, Texas; and Hinsdale, Ill. Each race market will include a charity partnership that allows participants to donate to directly support the community.

“Through Run Like A Mother, women everywhere can now feel motivated and inspired to get on their feet and keep exercising. No fitness routine is too small; it’s all about feeling good about yourself,” says Searfoss. “It gives women an opportunity to be a part of an event that helps them meet their fitness goals while giving back to the community.”

This year, Run Like A Mother launched its own expert panel of industry leaders positioned to provide key insights and education to brand supporters and race participants. The 2014 panel members are Jennifer Hutchinson, RD, CSSD, LDN, a registered dietitian/nutritionist who is board certified as a specialist in sports dietetics and is the founder of IronClad Coaching; Deb Povinelli, MPT,  MPH, a physical therapist and certified pre- and postnatal personal trainer; Run Like A Mother founder, author, coach and athlete Megan Searfoss; and the injury recovery and prevention including injury recovering and preventionteam at the Women’s Sports Medicine Center at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, who have provided support for such prestigious events as the Olympics, World Cup Soccer and the World Rowing Championships.

Registration is currently open for the in-market and virtual race and six-week training program. For more information on the Run Like A Mother Race, please visit www.runlikeamother.com or follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
