New Parents Invited to Find Encouragement and Friendship at Support

Free Group is Collaborative Community Effort

September 24, 2016

The City of Woodland, Sweet Potato Pie and Dignity Health Woodland Healthcare invites parents throughout Woodland, Davis and surrounding communities to attend a free support group aimed at providing encouragement and friendship during what can be a rewarding but challenging time.

The “Baby & Me” support group welcomes moms, dads and other primary caregivers of infants aged 0 to 9 months. The goal of the group, led by an expert, is to provide a place where parents can learn from one another while building friendships and creating a support community.

Baby & Me is made possible by a partnership between Dignity Health Woodland Healthcare, the City of Woodland and Sweet Potato Pie, a children’s consignment boutique in downtown Woodland.

New parent support groups typically provide a wonderful opportunity for moms and dads to share concerns, questions and successes as they occur during their parenting journey. Many parents build lifelong friendships from the bonds formed in support groups.

“We believe Baby & Me will provide a crucial outlet for new parents in our community,” explains Anna Enriquez, Family Birth Center Director at Dignity Health Woodland Memorial Hospital. “Having a place where you can find support and friendship from people experiencing the same highs and lows is so important as a new parent.”

Sweet Potato Pie will host the group in their Lil’ Spud Patch Room, inside their store at 528 Main Street, Woodland. Baby & Me will meet every Tuesday at 9 a.m. beginning February 2.
